What’s your flavor?

Music is something that everyone and anyone can relate to no matter what age. I recently had a discussion with my parents about the different types of music they grew up with and how different it is from today’s music. My dad listens to oldies music and basically anything from the 50′s to the 60′s. My mom on the other hand listens to old school rock like Boston and Led Zeppelin.

My brother and myself both listen to alternative and rock music (I am sure we got it from my mom). It’s funny how many different types of music there actually are out there to listen to. I believe music is great for so many reasons. I do not not know how I would work out on a daily basis without my Ipod playing my music. Its such a great motivator in the gym for me and since I listen to alternative music, it really gives me the edge I need to power through my workouts.

Also I have no idea how I would drive around without any music playing ever. I go on long trips a lot, and if I did not have any music I do not know how id even get to my destination without my head banging to music to keep me awake. Also if I am in a bad mood, music really seems to calm me down because in my mind I can feel the singers anger and in a way it seems as if they are speaking directly to me. Kind of weird to sit here and directly say that, but hey we all have our ticks right?

Why alternative and rock music? Simple like I said I feel this music more than any other type of music. This is real right in your face music not some technology based light show. Everyone has there tastes and preferences but I will rock and roll until the day I die. Thats right I am the typical tattooed chick that throws up the devil horns at the Slipknot concert. Heck, even as I sit here typing this my head is banging to Chevelle who just released “face to the floor” great song check it out!

So thats my flavor what’s yours?

  1. Personally I feel that musical tasted varies just as fashion sense varies. Some people just don’t know hoe to coordinate. Let’s face it; most of the ‘Top 40 Crap’ is just recycled beats and sampled songs from other artist and the majority of original ‘chart-topping music’ nowadays just sounds like old disco. Seriously, disco sucked…Let’s NOT let it happen again. I’d just once like to hear of some garage band out of ‘Bumfolk, BFE’ topping the charts, just once. It was so great when bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam just came out of no where and squashed all of the dance and glam crap and created a musical movement. And, I have high hopes for The Avett Bros in that same respect. And here’s an idea T-Pain, Akon and Brittany-PUT THE VOCODER/AUTO-TUNE away! Perhaps if the public is gonna be expected to pay money to hear you sing they’d like to perhaps…I don’t know, ACTUALLY hear YOU sing! Don’t get me wrong, there IS some good music out there…It’s just hard to find…Ya gotta hunt for it. I grew up during the era of ‘hip-hop invading the suburbs’ and that’s where my heart lies but, I have an affinity and appreciation for ALL music…Just as long as it’s GOOD MUSIC. Example: Good beat, Semi-intelligent lyrics, A catchy hook or theme AND perhaps some real instruments being played and an actual unfiltered voice being sang. Call me crazy but it makes me utterly sick that DRAKE is considered an artist in any sense of the term. That man sucks so bad it should be illegal. His big catch-phrase is: “First name Greatest, Last name Ever”, Come-on dude you starred on Degrassi for pete’s sake. You were like the AC Slater on a 90′s Canadian version of Saved-By-The-Bell. Thug you are NOT and you look like Eddie Munster with two lazy eyes. Drake, I hope you go back to The Great White North and get attacked by a roving band of Eskimos!
